Training and Development
We offer a variety of training opportunities designed to empower your staff to effectively implement programs and engage clients. When staff are properly trained, they are empowered to deliver the highest quality support to your clients and communities. Training topics include, but are not limited to:
Mental Health
The clients we serve often experience the negative effects of untreated mental illness. This training provides an overview of common mental health disorders including symptoms and how to respond in a manner which promotes safety and growth.
Substance Use, Addiction, and Recovery
This training explores reasons why clients may abuse substance, how substance abuse manifests, and the stages of recovery. It provides participants with a foundational understanding of how to serve clients who may struggle with substance use or be at risk.
Suicide Prevention and Intervention
What leads clients to contemplate suicide and how should providers respond? This training provides participants with the information necessary to respond to concerns of suicide in a manner which promotes safety and healing.
Clinical Documentation
Whether we like it or not, funders are placing an increased focus on documentation. This training provides participants with a foundational understanding of why we maintain documentation, ways to ensure documentation remains confidential and secure, and how to craft an appropriate narrative
Harm Reduction
Clients often engage in behaviors which present a risk to their safety and well-being. Requiring clients cease this behavior is unrealistic. This training provides participants with an understanding of harm reduction as an approach to encouraging safety and promoting alternatives to harmful behaviors.
Trauma Informed Care
What is trauma and how can we engage clients in a way that acknowledges their experiences and promotes safety and healing? In this training participants develop an understanding of the influence of trauma on brain development and behaviors and how to respond.
Healthy Professional Boundaries
In this training, participants learn how to navigate the complex client-practitioner relationship. Participants will learn the importance of boundaries, how to minimize potential boundary violations, and the appropriate response should a violation occur.
SMART Goals
Goals must be written in a way that is concrete and measurable, but how do we do this? In this training, participants learn how to craft goals which can be used to measure client success and program outcomes.
Responding to Challenging Behaviors
No matter the environment, working with clients can be hard. Our response to escalating behaviors is key for timely resolution and deescalation. In this training, participants will explore effective responses to common challenging behaviors presented by clients.
